Traffic police mobilizing additional force to ensure women’s safety in public vehicles

KATHMANDU, May 20: The Metropolitan Traffic Police is planning to mobilize an additional special force to prevent the violence against women in public vehicles.

The traffic police have mobilized a special security team targeting major traffic routes since last year. So far, 243 people have been arrested for the offense related to women violence, according to the police.

Speaking at a program jointly organized by the Kavya School Police Coordination Committee, Metropolitan Police Circle New Baneshwor and Baneshwor Community Police Service Center, Metropolitan Police Office, Ranipokhari Chief, DIG Shailesh Thapa Chhetri shared the plan of additional mobilization of police along such routes.

Similarly, the latest rise in cybercrime due to increased use of social networking sites has prompted the establishment of the ‘Cyber Bureau’ under the leadership of Chhetri.

The presence of Bureau has turned effective to combat the crime, he said.

Lately, the involvement of adolescents and youths is higher in the cybercrime. The police have advised parents/ guardians to keep young children far from social networking sites.

On the occasion, Kavya School principal Nawaraj Baskota received the letter of appreciation.

New Baneshwor Police Circle chief Deputy Superintendent of Police, Govinda Raj Kafle, was of the view that the community should be aware of cybercrime, drugs abuse, and road safety issues.

The police have also implemented the Community Police Partnership Program with an aim to maintain peace and security and basic safety of children. RSS
