Province govt to bear expenses of treatment of victim Radha Chaudhary

KATHMANDU, March 11: Province 7 government has decided to bear all the expenses of the treatment of Radha Chaudhary, who was brutally beaten to injury in charge of witchcraft possession.

Province 7 Chief Minister Trilochan Bhatta had reached the Seti Zonal Hospital to visit victim Chaudhary, 18 on Sunday morning. She is undergoing treatment at the surgical ward of the hospital.

According to Dr. Surendra Basnet, she has bruises around her eyes and all over her body.

“The province government will cover all the expenses of treatment of Chaudhary,” Bhatta told reporters.

Bhatta also said that the guilty of the incident will be taken strict action.

Victim Chaudhary of Ghodaghodi Municipality-5 of Kailali district was beaten and tortured brutally by locals ‘Baba’ Ram Bahadur Chaudhary and Kismati Chaudhary on witchcraft charges for more than six hours on March 8.

Following the incident, Sukhhad Police had arrested Ram Bahadur Chaudhary but was later released following the pressure from local representatives.

Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli also condemned the act and assured that the guilty of the incident will be rightfully punished.

Meanwhile, CPN-UML has also formed a three-member probe committee to investigate into the involvement of Mayor Mamata Prasad Chaudhary to protect the attackers.

But, Mayor Mamata Chaudhary has denied the charges of trying to protect the assailants.
