Pappu bags plum post in Film Development Board; artistes agitated

KATHMANDU: In protest of the government decision to appoint Dharmendra Mabaita ‘Pappu’, a raw talent, as the chairman of Film Development Board, the cine artistes have decided to shutdown all the cinema halls across the country from today. They also said that they were betrayed by the appointment of Pappu as the Prime Minister had given a word ‘to respect their sentiments’ to the artistes just four hours before Pappu was awarded the plum post of the Board.

The cine artistes have been agitated by floating 4-point demand and continuing their earlier announced protest programs. They would also halt the film shooting, postproduction and all other tasks. The cine artistes have already announced their program to bar the newly appointed chairman Pappu from entering his office and boycott all his programs.

The artistes have also organized an interaction program at the premises of the Board at 11:00 am today. The cine artistes have been staging a sit-in for days demanding to appoint a capable figure as the chairman of the Board.
