‘Major parties main obstacles’

KATHMANDU: Rastriya Prajatantra Party-Nepal (RPP-N) Chairman Kamal Thapa has said that four major political forces—UCPN (Maoist), Nepali Congress, CPN (UML) and the Madhesi Front—are to blame for the present political deadlock.

He also said that CA polls under condition could not be conducted at any cost and added the CJ-led government should be formed without any conditions.

Thapa accused the major political parties’ hunger for power as the reason behind the country’s protracted deadlock.

Speaking at a news conference organized by the Reporters’ Club in the capital on Thursday, RPP-N Chairman Thapa said that the possibility of a Chief Justice-led election government seems unlikely due to political stubbornness of the four political forces.

Thapa also said that relevance of both the 12-point agreement signed in December 2005 and the Interim Constitution of Nepal-2063 B.S had ended.

Club’s chairman Rishi Dhamala presided over the program.

Saying that there was no existence of power separations in the country due to absence of parliament, Thapa said principle of power separations would automatically prevail once the elections were conducted.

Saying that the RPP-N never fears to face the elections, Thapa said that only the government under the leadership of the former chief justice or sitting Chief Justice could hold the free and fair elections.

He also made it clear that Rastriya Janashakti Party and Rastriya Prajatantra Party would not unite in the CA elections.

Thapa said conspiracies were being hatched to foil the CJ-led election government.
