CPN UML Meeting

KATHMANDU: The CPN UML has given green signal to form a consensus government in the leadership of incumbent Chief Justice Khilaraj Regmi.

The Standing Committee of the party decided to support the decisions of political parties and had proposed the same to the Central Committee of the party on Saturday.

With the decision the stand off to form a consensus government in the leadership of Chief Justice has received consensus from all four major political forces.

The Standing Committee meeting decided to remain open on any alternatives that ensured the exit of the incumbent Baburam Bhattarai government and the CA elections, Vice-Chairperson Bidya Devi Bhandari said.

She said that the party has decided to move ahead in consensus with other political parties to resolve political stalemate.

The Central Committee of the party had given over the responsibility to take a decision on the issue after its all members had expressed their opinion on the proposal.

On Friday majority of the members had opposed the proposal claiming that it would be a grave set back to multi party democracy.

However the scenario changed on Saturday paving way for political parties to further discussion for materialising the proposal.

A meeting of the four political parties- UCPN Maoist, Nepali Congress, CPN UML and Madheshi Morcha is scheduled at the President’s residence to endorse the proposal.

Though leaders of other parties have already reached at the President’s place, the meeting will kick off as soon as the UML leaders reach there.
