Govt allocates Rs. 3.99 billion for sports sector

KATHMANDU, May 29: The government has allocated Rs. 3.99 billion for the sports sector in the new fiscal year 2019/20.

Tabling the budget before the joint session of the federal parliament Wednesday, Finance Minister Dr. Yubaraj Khatiwada said the amount has been appropriated with high priority to the sports sector.

The government has allocated Rs. 100 million for the under-construction cricket stadium in Mulpani, Kathmandu, which will be completed in the next two years.

Likewise, plans are afoot to construct an international-level sports complex in Kathmandu valley, well-equipped stadium in all the States and sports village in all the local levels.

A cricket academy will be established for the development of the sport of cricket while the required budget has been allocated for the 13th South Asian Games and the 9th national games to be held in Gandaki State in 2077.

The SAG is taking place from coming December 1 to 10 in Kathmandu and Pokhara.

Likewise, programs shall be organized for training and capacity building of the athletes in federal, state and local levels. RSS
