Biplav’s son Prakash Chand released

KATHMANDU, Sept 12: The Chitwan Police have released Prakash Chand Thakuri, son of Netram Bikram Chand ‘Biplav’-chair of outlawed outfit Communist Party of Nepal on Thursday morning.

Prakash, along with 14 students, was arrested on Wednesday from Chitwan Medical College after they disrupted the medical services and tried to vandalize the college structure.

Chand, an MBBS bachelor at the Chitwan college, has been leading the protest for the past few days demanding the college charge tuition fees as recommended by the Tribhuvan University Institute of Medicine, Bharatpur.

The agitating students have accused the college of charging the students with around Rs 1.5 million more fees than the fixed amount. The TU Institute had fixed Rs 4.2 million fee for MBBS.
