Govinda KC hunger strike

DADELDHURA, Nov 8: Medical education activist Prof Dr Govinda KC, who has been staging his 17th fast-unto-death in Tufandada, the headquarter of Dadeldhura district since four days has been admitted to Dadeldhura Hosptial after his health condition became worse.

KC was admitted to hospital in his permission after his blood pressure became unstable, said Medical Superintended Dr Jitendra Kandel.

Dr KC will continue his hunger strike from the hospital.

KC began his 17th hunger strike on Nov 4 after the government turned deaf ears on his seven-point demands.

Earlier, he had warned the government that he would begin a fresh hunger strike if his demands are not addressed by Oct 25.

His key demands include amendment in the National Medical Education Bill, refunding illegal fees collected by the private medical colleges, free-of-cost medicine to cancer patients, appointment of experts instead of politically affiliated persons in key university and academic positions, and transitional justice bodies.
