Bronze for Nepal in the 24th International Astronomy Olympiad



KATHMANDU: Nepal has won a bronze medal in the 24th International Astronomy Olympiad which was held in Romania.

Rahul Ranjan Sah won the medal in the championship where students from 20 countries had participated.

A seven-member team under the leadership of Chairperson of Nepal Astronomical Society, Suresh Bhattarai had participated in the olympiad.
Three students towards junior category including Reja Thapa and two towards senior category had participated in the olympiad.

Chairperson Bhattarai said it was one of the biggest achievements in the olympiad of Astronomy and Astrophysics.

Sah was Nepal first towards the junior category of the sixth National Astronomy Olympiad. Yaman Acharya of Bishwo Adarsha School, Itahari, and Akash Gurung of St. Xavier, Jwalakhel towards senior category had participated in the Olympiad while Rahul Ranjan Sah of Xt. Xavier College, Maitighar, Surabhi Luintel of St. Mary’s School, Jwalakhel and Bhumi Kayastha of Suryodaya Secondary Boarding School, Ghattekulo, towards the junior category. (RSS)
