Caught in the trap of the Monsoon Trough: Nepal experiences heavy rain and damage



Reporters Club: Due to the continuous rainfall, various parts of the country have been affected along with damage to property. One person was reported dead after a landslide in Kavrepalanchowk. There were flood-related disasters reported in areas of Udayapur and Kaski. Similarly, landslides have been reported from Shyanja, Rukum West, and Shankhuwasabha. Properties worth over 1.5 million have been damaged.

A family in Bhojpur lost their two-storied house after it collapsed due to the incessant rain. There have been transportation problems in various hilly regions of the country. According to the meteorological analysis released by the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, the nation is currently in the trap of the axis of the Monsoon Trough, and this will likely continue for a few days. This is also affecting our neighbor India, with their northern portions experiencing heavy rain along with loss of life and property. The rains have been wrecking various parts of the country.

According to the latest tweet released by the Ministry of Home Affairs, the rivers of Koshi, Kamala, Bagmati, Narayani and Western Rapti and its tributaries will have an increased watercourse, whereas areas like Makwanpur, Sindhuli, Kathmandu, Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Lamjung, Kaski, Chitwan, Nawalparasi, Rupandehi, Kapilvastu, Palpa, Argakhanchi, Gulmi, Baglung, Parbat, Myagdi, Dang, and Bardiya will face higher levels of water and inundation. The Home Ministry has asked everyone to take necessary precautions and stay safe.
