Congress could not move in status quo-NC leaders

Poudel

KATHMANDU, June 11: Nepali Congress (NC) senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel asserted that the party has been in troublesome situation when party President failed to run the party by mobilizing all Congress people.

Speaking at a program ‘Course of Nepali Congress and Role of Youth’ organized by Nepal Students Union (NSU) on Monday, leader Paudel said “Now we are bearing the brunt of the result of 13 general convention”, lambasting the government that garnering two-thirds majority and remarks from the ruling party on directly-elected President has created confusion.

He accused the ruling parties of opting for brishing off the Congress on the backup of money. “A ploy is being orchestrated to alienate Congress. NC should be timely cautious on the issue”.

NC former general secretary Prakash Man Singh said that the party could not be functional by breaching process and constitution. “The sister organizations have been in chaos when the party is not being operated in accordance with the statute”, he added.

Another former general secretary Krishna Prasad Sitaula said that feudal mindset and appeasement culture would not augur well to the party.

“It is saddening that nomination of 40 lawmakers by the President did not incorporate representatives from workers, academia and legal practitioners. Such move does not allow party to function”, Sitaula added.

He also hinted at the need of necessary change in party policy, program and organizational structure.

Also speaking on the occasion were central members Arjun Narsingh KC, nabindra Raj Joshi, Gagan Thapa, Pradeep Poudel, student leaders duo, Kundan Raj Kafle and Deepak Bhattarai, NSU Kathmandu Presiudent Manoj Baidhya, among others.
