PM Oli leaves for India on three day state visit

KATHMANDU, April 5: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has left for India Friday morning on a State Visit at the cordial invitation of the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Prime Minister Oli is accompanied by his spouse Radhika Shakya. He will be staying at the Rashtrapati Bhawan in New Delhi as the State Guest of the Government of India, said a press statement released by Ministry of Foreign Affairs Thursday evening.

The members of the federal parliament in the PM’s entourage include Sarat Singh Bhandari, Dinanath Sharma,Rameshwar Raya Yadav, Motilal Dugar, Ganesh Singh Thagunna, Shanta Chaudhary, Uma Regmi, Rambir Manandhar, Sitaram Mahato and Bimal Prasad Shreebastav.

The government high officials in the delegation are Chief Secretary Lok Darshan Regmi, Foreign Secretary Shanker Das Bairagi, Secretary at the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies Chandra Kumar Ghimire and the Chief Executive Officer at the Investment Board of Nepal Maha Prasad Adhikari.

Other government officials in the delegation include Joint Secretary at the Water and Energy Commission Madhav Belbase, Finance ministry joint-secretary Kewal Prasad Bhandari, Director General of Department of Railways Ananta Acharya, Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Bhrigu Dhungana, Chief of Protocol Deepak Adhikari, Executive Director of Nepal Agricultural Research Council Dr Baidyanath Mahato.

Similarly, the Prime Minister’s personal physician Dr Divya Singh Shah, the Prime Minister’s press advisor Dr Kundan Aryal and the Prime Minister’s personal secretary Rajesh Bajracharya are also accompanying him.
Nine Nepali officials including Charge d’ Affaires at the Nepali Embassy in India Bharat Kumar Regmi, Economic Minister Krishna Hari Pushkar among others will join the PM’s entourage in India.

Film star Rajesh Hamal and director Dinesh DC are also in the team.

The PM will hold an interactive meeting with the business community of Nepal and India, which is followed by an interaction with the Nepali community. In the evening, the PM will attend the diplomatic reception to be hosted in his honor by the Embassy of Nepal and will have a separate meeting with members of Nepali community.

Similarly, on April 07, the PM will attend the ceremonial reception and inspects the Guard of Honor at the Rashtrapati Bhawan. He then separately calls on President of India, Ram Nath Kovind, and Vice-President M. Venkaiah Naidu. He will also pay homage to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat.

On the same day, PM Oli will hold official meeting with his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi. The Indian PM will host a Banquet Luncheon in honor of PM Oli and his delegation. External Affairs Minister, Minister of Finance, and Minister of Home Affairs of the Government of India will call on PM Oli. Senior political leaders from India will also meet Nepal’s PM.

Both the Prime Ministers will jointly inaugurate integrated check post at Birgunj. Thereafter, the PM is scheduled to interact with the intellectual community at a civic reception by India Foundation. On 8 April, PM Oli will be conferred on the Honorary Degree of Doctor of Science by the GB Pant University of Agriculture and Technology at Pantnagar, Uttarakhanda.
He is returning home in the same evening, the Ministry added.
