Late Bhattarai’s contribution to democracy unparalleled: PM Deuba

KATHMANDU, July 11: Prime Minister and Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba has said the contribution of former Prime Minister the late Krishna Prasad Bhattarai to the establishment of multi-party democracy in Nepal was unparalleled.

At a program ‘Krishna Prasad Bhattarai talk series’ organized by Parliamentary Studies and Development Foundation, PM Deuba said the leadership of the late Bhattarai from democratic movement to non-violent struggle was highly successful and inspiring.

Noting that wider researches have yet to be done to explore many dimensions about Bhattarai who fought for democracy throughout his life, Deuba urged the organizer to do the required works to that end.

On the occasion, Foundation Chairperson and former Speaker Damannath Dhungana stressed the need to keep the culture of commemorating the leaders dedicated to the country and people and recalled that the late Bhattarai had carried out exemplary works by maintaining delicate balance between the politics and ethics.

Former minister Yog Prasad Upadhyay, Vice-chairman of the organization and former minister Bhakta Bahadur Balayar, senior journalist Yub Raj Ghimre among the speakers eulogized the late Bhattarai as an ideal and moral leader, highlighting the late PM Bhattarai’s contribution to democratic movement of the country.
