Government to prepare 15-year framework for quality education



Chitwan, Dec 10: The government is mooting 15-year framework to enhance quality of child education in Nepal.

The Ministry of Education has embarked on its preparation to chart the framework within coming January-end in its effort to elevate educational status of Nepal in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) endorsed by the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in September 2015.
The Secretariat of UNESCO’s Nepal National Commission has begun collecting recommendations from across the country. In this connection, Secretariat Secretary Balaram Timilsina shared that focused group discussion with educational stakeholders is in place at regional and local level to gather recommendations for framework. He said that the central level discussion was completed before reaching out to the regions.
Highlighting SDGs and educational plan of action at the central regional level workshop held in Bharatpur to collect recommendations for developing framework, Secretary Timilsina said they have sought concrete recommended actions for the elevation of quality education by 2030 in line with the international commitment.

According to the government data, around 96.2 per cent children are under the reach of educational opportunities in Nepal. RSS
