Deflection continues: UML’s ex-MP join Maoist

KATHMANDU: CPN-UML politburo member and former Constituent Assembly (CA) member Bisham Lal Adhikari Danuwar has joined the UCPN-Maoist on Monday.

He formally entered the new party amidst a programme at the UCPN-M central office at Paris Danda today.

Bisham Lal was elected as the first CA member from the Sindhuli Constituency No. 1 under the UML ticket.

Speaking at the welcome ceremony, he said he decided to quit the UML realising that the party could not guarantee liberty to the people.

UCPN-Maoist Party Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal welcomed over three dozen new entrants to the party including Danuwar, CPN-United central member Man Bahadur Shrish and CPN-Masal’s Dr Laxman Sharma on the occasion.

The UCPN-Maoist is the only one party which can institutionalise people’s rights and the party needs majority in the upcoming Constituent Assembly election for that, Chairman Dahal said addressing the same function.
