Newly formed left party joins the CA election race

KATHMANDU: A recently formed leftist party in Nepal has registered itself with the Election Commission to compete in the proposed Constituent Assembly (CA) elections.

On Friday the Nepal Communist Party formed in April by merging CPN-Unified, CPN-ML-Socialist, CPN-Unified Marxist, Marxist Communist Party, Bidrohi ML and the Independent Thought Group was registered at the EC.

Chairman of the party Rishi Kattel in April said that their bid to compete in the EC was a part of their strategy to preserve national sovereignty and contribute in developing the national economy.

A press release issued by the party today said that the party will continue its strife to end the non-political environment in the country and restore the power balance in the state machinery.
